Just a nobody, reaching out to nobody.

You Should Date a Guy Who Writes

He holds pens in high regard, and takes good care of them. He watches words with quiet intensity and listens to the lyrics when no one else notices. He understands the importance of good grammar.
He understands the power of diction, and the way words are meant to blend together. He understands the pauses in your speech, and knows when you’re upset. He will know what words evoke what emotions, and you will find yourself caught up on his understanding. It will appear as though he has the ability to read minds on some days.
You will find him seated on a bench in the park, reading stories in the passersby and smiling at their small triumphs. You will have locked eyes with him only a moment; he is fully aware of the words to describe the distance between you. He will quickly shy away from your gaze, knowing that his lips cannot form the words he could paint with the pen in his pocket.
He will probably write something about you, and about the fleeting moments he always seems to miss. He will remember the poems that he has written for people of the past, and the romances he never fulfilled. He will dream of tasting your lips under a sky in some idolized foreign country, and holding your hand in a snow storm. However, he is accustomed to scripting in a finale, and has accepted the inevitability of failure. It will not sadden him beyond a few moments, unless he sees you again.
Buy a nice pen. Bring it with you when you find him on the same park bench two weeks later. He likes patterns. Sit next to him, and say nothing. Your presence will confuse and thrill him. He will be tense at first, thinking of how to articulate his exit safely. When he starts to stand, ask him if he writes. He will pause before telling you yes. You have him then. He will be wondering about your intentions, but if he continues to walk away, do not fret. Catch him, hand him the pen, and ask his name. When you have it, tell him yours, and leave.
He will not forget you. He will come back to that bench on several occasions, and more than once on some days, hoping to find a fairy tale. He will not understand his own actions, but will continue with limited hesitation. Return two weeks after the first time you met him, around the same time. When you find him sitting there, sit next to him in silence. Take his hand, and you will not lose him.
He will write poetry about your smile and favorite cereal. He will understand you better than you understand yourself, because he knows how you think. Your thoughts will be captured in some character he creates, and he will immortalize you between the sheets.
He will take you on simple dates, and you will feel as though he’s giving you the world. He is. He will propose to you in the most eloquent way possible, with the kind of grand simplicity that you read about. He will remember the little things. Your wedding will be as you always wanted, and your honeymoon will be in some idolized foreign country where he can taste your lips and hold you in a snow storm.
A writer understands the need for romance and occasional cheesy lines. He knows when to use metaphor and when to be blunt, and he will have written your happiness into his fingertips. He will touch your skin as intimately as his pen and make love with gentle hands.
He will make mistakes. He will lie to you, because being the source of your pain terrifies him. When he tells you the truth, he will know better. He will not lie to you again.
He will fight for your forgiveness, and write you letters in apology. Forgive him.
He will go out of his way to make you happy. Your smile will be the most important thing in the world for him. Love him with everything you have. He will love you in return.
You will not regret this.
